Historic Highlands | Denver, CO | Art Deco Home Remodel

Art Deco home remodel. Added 2 stories to the house for bed room and loft space. Custom kitchen remodel. Basement whisky lounge. Restoration project

In a masterful blend of preservation and expansion, our team collaborated with distinguished architects and luxury custom builders to transform a historic Art Deco residence while honoring its architectural heritage. This ambitious project involved adding two stories to the existing structure while maintaining the home's vintage integrity and distinctive aesthetic.

Meticulous attention to authentic period details guided every aspect of the renovation. Original architectural elements were carefully preserved and repurposed, including the quarter-sawn oak moldings that grace the interiors. Historic wood doors found new life in thoughtfully chosen locations throughout the home, while original painted windows were restored to their natural finish. New windows were custom-designed to seamlessly mirror their century-old counterparts. The home's iconic exterior ornaments—the entry lions and corner eagles—remain as dignified sentinels of its architectural legacy.

The renovation breathed new life into unexpected spaces, most notably transforming the basement into an atmospheric speakeasy whiskey lounge. Each element of the interior design was curated with unwavering commitment to authenticity—every fixture, finish, and furnishing was selected for its period correctness, with no reproductions permitted. This dedication to historical accuracy extended to the finest details, such as the precise placement of penny tiles in the children's bathroom and powder room, creating patterns that reflect genuine Art Deco design principles.

A new butler's pantry was integrated to complement the kitchen, while a powder room was added with strictly period-appropriate selections. The third-story addition houses bedrooms, bathrooms, and laundry facilities, crowned by a fourth-floor loft with an expansive deck offering panoramic views of the Rocky Mountain range from Pikes Peak to Boulder.

This comprehensive renovation stands as a testament to the possibility of expanding a historic home while preserving its architectural integrity, creating a harmonious dialogue between past and present.
